Playing at Greenwich Tennis Courts

No matter what your tennis skills are, you will be welcomed with open arms at Greenwich tennis. You do not need a membership - you just have to come along to the centre and wait for a court to be free. Therefore, we do recommend that you book in advance to make sure that you do not end up being disappointed.

You can book a court 3 days before you intend to play. Those at the Greenwich tennis club want to give tennis fans plenty of opportunities to play tennis each week, so they believe that allowing bookings up to three days in advance is the best way to make sure that you can fit a game or two of tennis into your busy life.

How much will it cost you to play? Well, if you are playing during a peak time (after 5pm on weekdays, bank holidays, and weekends), then it is £12 for an hour. If you are playing at an off-peak time (any time that does not fall into the peak time category), then you will be charged £9.

If you decide to sign up for the Smartcard Plus, then you will be able to book a court up to seven days in advance and will even be able to take advantage of discounted prices. With the Smartcard Plus you will pay £9 for a court for an hour during peak times and £7 during off-peak times.

Private Lessons and Coaching

If you want to improve your tennis skills, then you can sign up for some private lessons. All of the coaches are experienced tennis players and will definitely help you improve your game. At the time of writing there are two tennis coaches available at Greenwich Park and these are James Maloney and Jimmy O’Leary. They have over four decades of experience between them and have coached tennis in a number of different countries around the world. They both charge £40 an hour for their services. This might seem a bit steep to you to begin with, but you will quickly see that it is worth it.

Courses for Adults

If you do not want private lessons but still want to improve your tennis skills, then you should think about signing up to a tennis course at Greenwich Park. If you are a complete beginner, then there are plenty of courses that you can join. These courses last 4-6 weeks and will cost you anywhere between £48 and £52.50. Courses take place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, so you can select the day that you can fit into your busy schedule. If you already know the basics of tennis, then you should sign up to an intermediate course. These are also 4-6 weeks and will cost you between £48 and £63. These take place on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Junior and Mini Tennis Camps

If you have youngsters who are into their tennis, then you should consider signing them up to a weeklong camp. The tennis camps at Greenwich Park are available all year round and your children will learn all of the basics of tennis. If the weather is not good, then the camp will continue inside. The Junior Camps are for children between the ages of 7 and 16, while the Mini Camps are for those children that are between the ages of 4 and 7. The Junior Camp takes place over five days from 10am-2pm, while the Mini Camp takes place over 5 days from 9am-10am.
